Adventure to Value Village!

Call to Adventure

This weekend I decided to do something I had never done before. It may seem very silly to most but it was something new for me, I donated some old clothes I had laying around. Before I had boxed everything up I went through my drawers and realized I didn’t need a lot of what was in there. I took every piece of clothing out and decide if I wanted it or not. The clothing I had in the dresser had been small and some had holes in them. Others were like brand new and smelled like fresh laundry. I had three drawers to go through and the whole closet which included shoes. I pulled out a couple of sweatshirts that I hadn’t worn since camp and they still smelled of the camp fire. Which I thought you probably shouldn’t give away clothing that hasn’t been washed. How can you wash shoes though? Like my clothes my shoes were the same way. I had a few brand new pairs I had never worn and some really old shoes that got lots of love. I put everything neatly into boxes organizing into seasons. Summer box full of tank tops, short, and flip flops. The next three boxes were all fall and winter clothing. This box contained sweatshirts, pants, t-shirts, and tennis shoes. I taped each box with sticky duck tape and packed them into the car. Driving along to Value Village the sun was heating up the inside of my car and it began to smell as if something was melting in the sunlight. I pulled up behind Value Village and got out of my car. Three gentlemen helped people get stuff out of people’s cars. One man was dressed in a yellow reflective jacket and had a scruffy beard he helped me get the boxes out of my car. He gave me a long piece of paper saying that I donated and I can get money on my taxes for donating. I am glad I donated this weekend it helps me have more room in my drawers and helps someone enjoy my stuff for cheap.

Writing Writing Writing....

Writing has never been a process I have enjoyed. My earliest memory of writing is in first grade. After the weekend we would have to write about our weekend. We had about ten or twenty minutes to write about what we did all weekend. After we wrote about what we did we would sit in a circle and share. Well I have recently looked at my weekend journal from first grade and I can't understand anything in there except two words "after that." My friends and I used the phrase "after that" probably more then 60 times. Everything we said the words "after that" would appear at our next thoughts.

I have never been a really good writer I just finally understand how to make a decent simple five paragraph essay. I never understood how someone can judge another persons writing because everyone writes in different ways, just like all artist are different. Last last semester is when I actually understood how to write a good essay. In high school the writing process was never really taught or I just didn't understand it at all.
Writing is so important in our lives it has become and always was what we depended on sending messages. Now days we express our writing through Facebook and Twitter. I remember being little and you wrote letters or emails for everything. Then through AOL you could chat with someone in real time. Writing has changed so much in my life time even though I am only 20 years old. Technology is so advanced now we are soon going to be writing with our hands in the air.
I have never in my opinion written a successful paper. The only things I like to read by me is essays where you can use the word "I."

Your new and improved writer,
Ariel
